Meet Morris Chestnut's Smooth-Talking Surgeon in This Resident Sneak Peek

A new doctor has arrived at Chastain Hospital and TV Guide has your exclusive sneak peek at his introduction. Morris Chestnut joins the cast ofThe Residentin the Season 3 premiere (airing Tuesday), and he's making quite the impression right off the bat.

TV Guide's exclusive clip from the premiere shows Bell (Bruce Greenwood) going to meet with his potential new hire, Barrett Cain (Chestnut), at an art gallery in town. Cain casually mentions that they're letting him take a look at the pieces before the show opens because if he has first pick, he's more likely to buy. Seemingly, Cain has got money and he likes to spend it.

The second thing that sticks out in this preview is that Barrett Cain is on the prowl. He is unabashedly flirting with the museum curator as she brings him a glass of champagne. He's rich and smooth, which is one hell of a combination to have in a new surgeon -- at least from a viewer's perspective.

In the scene, Bell also mentions that there was a giant explosion at Chastain earlier in the morning, one that almost killed two people. If Cain does step on board, it looks like he'll be walking into an even bigger mess than usual at the hospital. Frankly, we can't wait to see him get dirty.

The Resident Season 3 premieres Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c.
