The Originals Exclusive Sneak Peek: Will Klaus "Bite the Big One?"

Kol and Rebekah are gearing up for one last family squabble

Always and forever is about to come to an end as The Originals gears up for its series finale, and it's shaping up to be a heartbreaker of an episode.

Last week left off with a serious cliffhanger, as Klaus (Joseph Morgan) transferred all the dark magic from Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) to himself, with every intention of using the last white oak stake to do himself in, a final act of sacrifice for his daughter. In this exclusive sneak peek at the series finale, Klaus' fate is still unknown, but at least Rebekah (Claire Holt) and Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) have time to squabble about whether they should stick around to watch him "bite the big one" or not. That's got to be a semi-good sign, right?

Kol does make some sense though, as he has all season long. Putting aside the fact that he really needs to get over that whole stabby thing, he's got a point that the Mikaelsons still can't seem to stop falling back into their co-dependent family drama. Rather than wallow in it though, Kol has decided to ditch New Orleans in favor of returning to the love of his life so they can continue living out their happy ending. Obviously Rebekah has never been great at making that same decision for herself, but maybe when all is said and done she'll find a way to choose to be happy like Kol has?

The Originals airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on The CW.
