The Originals: Is There Hope for Hayley and Elijah?

Give me Haylijah or give me death

Season 4 of The Originals was a tough time to be a Haylijah shipper, especially when Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) finally decided to let Elijah (Daniel Gillies) go in order to provide the best life for her daughter. Let's not even start on Elijah's amnesia...

With all of these obstacles mounting against them, is it too far-fetched to hope that Hayley and Elijah might find their way back to each other in The Originals final season?

"As long as there's an Elijah and there's a Hayley, there will always be some kind of love story transpiring," Daniel Gillies told TV Guide. "I think that at the very least we'll revisit who they are to each other."

Revisiting who they are to each other will obviously require Elijah to remember who the heck he is, but it doesn't sound like romance is entirely off the table for them this year.

Did The Originals Just Cast Elijah's New Love Interest?

On the other hand, executive producer Julie Plec warned us to remember that a substantial amount of time has passed, and Hayley may have moved on to greener pastures since parting ways with Elijah and most of the Mikaelson family.

"It's been seven years since Elijah walked out of her life, and they didn't necessarily end in a way that felt like their relationship was closed," Plec said. "When we get to see her seven years later, a nice surprise is that she actually seems to be doing OK. She's got this like smokey, blue-eyed, restaurateur who's got his eye on her."

Said restaurateur will be played by Torrance Coombs, and besides having some serious culinary talents, he'll also be rocking a sexy Irish accent. What more could a girl ask for?

The Originals premieres Friday, April 20 at 9/8c on The CW.
