It's one of Bachelor Nation's craziest twists
Fourth time is the charm?
In a surprise twist that no one saw coming, two-time The Bachelorette runner-up Nick Viall was revealed as the next star of The Bachelor. The announcement was made during After Paradise, the live Bachelor in Paradise post-show.
Viall came in second on Andi Dorfman's season, then returned next year for Kaitlyn Bristowe's season, where he also came in second. He's also a contestant on the current season of Bachelor in Paradise, where Bachelor and Bachelorette rejects get a second chance at love. The 35-year-old Wisconsin native was previously portrayed as a villain on The Bachelorette, but has made the transformation into a fan favorite during Bachelor in Paradise.
Viall's selection is quite the surprise and breaks recent tradition, as the Bachelor is usually selected from the contestants on the previous season of The Bachelorette. The last time the Bachelor was chosen from outside the previous season on The Bachelorette was Brad Womack in 2011, when he did his second season as the Bachelor. It was presumed that Luke Pell or Chase McNary from JoJo Fletcher's season would be the Bachelor next season.
Instead, it's Nick Viall! What do you think of the choice?
The Bachelor returns for its 21st season in January on ABC.
