TNT has ordered a third season of The Last Ship, the network announced Tuesday.
The drama stars Eric Dane as Captain Chandler, the head of a Navy destroyer that survives a catastrophe that wiped out most of the world's population. Now, he must help his crew navigate a world in which they are among the only few survivors.
In Season 2, Chandler & Co. have worked at disseminating the cure developed by Dr. Rachel Scott (Rhona Mitra). However, the crew's return to the U.S. has been met with opposition from other power-hungry parties as well as a group of naturally immune survivors bent on taking over the world.
The Last Ship's Season 2 finale will air Sunday, Sept. 6 at 9/8c. The 13-episode third season will premiere next summer.
