Callie (Maia Mitchell) and Jude (Hayden Byerly) became members of the Adams-Foster family in large part because Brandon (David Lambert) skipped the audition for a piano competition and followed Callie to rescue Jude from their abusive foster-home during the series' first episode.

At the time we were so focused on who Callie was going to rescue that we didn't really think too much about why Brandon would put his dreams at risk for a girl that he just met -- but The Fosters will revisit that critical moment from Brandon's perspective during the season's final 10 episodes.

Everything We Want from The Fosters' Final Episodes

"We're going to find out about the origins of that [decision] and we're going to learn some stuff about Stef and her dynamic with Brandon when Brandon was younger -- sort of why Brandon tends to be a caretaker," executive producer Johanna Johnson told us. "It's going to sort of remind Stef of a hard time in her life when she relied on Brandon."

So it turns out that Brandon's savior complex definitely comes from somewhere -- and we'll finally figure out where!

The Fosters airs Tuesday nights at 8/7c on Freeform.
