The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik Are Teaming Up for a New Comedy

Sheldon and Amy's partnership continues! Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik, who starred as married scientists Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory, are teaming up to executive-produce a multi-camera sitcom called Carla for Fox, Variety reports. Bialik will star.

Carla is based on a BBC sitcom called Miranda, created by Miranda Hart. Bialik will play the titular character, "a 39-year-old woman who struggles every day against society and her mother to prove that you cannot have everything you want and still be happy," according to Variety. "That is why she spent the money her parents set aside for her wedding to open a Cat Café in Louisville, KY."

Bialik will executive-produce under her Sad Clown production banner, with Parsons and his producing partner and husband Todd Spiewak executive-producing via their That's Wonderful Productions. The Big C creator Darlene Hunt will write and executive-produce the series. The series will be a co-production between Fox and Warner Bros., the studio that produced The Big Bang Theory.

The Big Bang Theory ended its 12-season run on CBS earlier this year as television's most-watched comedy. HBO Max recently secured the streaming rights for the series, in a combination streaming-cable reruns deal that's estimated to be worth over a billion dollars. So landing this project is a big deal for Fox.

Bialik is the second Big Bang alum to line up a new series; Kaley Cuoco will star in a thriller series for HBO Max calledThe Flight Attendant.
