The 100 Season 5 Key Art: The War for Eden Begins

No heroes. Just survivors

The premiere of The 100Season 5 is still a few weeks away, but at least now we've got some pretty new art to stare at while we mark the days off our calendar.

The new photo will probably make you tilt your head like a crazy person trying to get the full picture, but here's what it basically boils down to: the war for Eden is on.

When The 100 returns, the nuclear radiation that covered the planet will finally have dissipated, making it safe for humans to live on the ground again. Even better, there's one convenient patch of land that hasn't been scorched beyond habitability, leaving behind a lush forest instead. The bad news? That small patch of land is going to be worth killing for.

The key art for Season 5 shows our characters divided, and the Grounders vs. Sky People vibe is giving us major Season 1 nostalgia -- only this time, our heroes are divided.

The 100's Bloody Season 5 Trailer Reveals the New War to Come

On one side Clarke (Eliza Taylor) leads the group of survivors who spent the past six years up in space, while on the other half, Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) leads the survivors from the bunker. Obviously we'd hate the think these two groups are at odds with each other over who can claim Eden -- haven't we put the Blake siblings through enough already? -- but they'll both definitely have a bigger enemy to face.

The mysterious passengers of the prison ship that landed in the Season 4 finale will also be contenders in this battle for Eden. And they sound like a group of people you do NOT want to mess with.

The 100 returns Tuesday, April 24 at 9/8c on The CW.
