An ambulance brought Heinz Kerry, 74, to the hospital, and Kerry was with his wife at the time, a spokesman for the Kerry family told the Globe. She was later transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital.
"The family is grateful for the outpouring of support it has received and aware of the interest in her condition, but they ask for privacy at this time," the spokesperson said in a statement.
Heinz Kerry is a breast cancer survivor after undergoing treatment in 2009.
