Taylor Swift Alludes to Kanye Once --- Once!

Taylor Swift could've — but she didn't.

Defying expectations raised earlier in the week, the 19-year-old singer opted against using the bully pulpit of Saturday Night Live's opening monologue — or any subsequent skits — to hit back hard at Kanye West, who infamously interrupted her acceptance speech at September's MTV Video Music Awards.

During her "Musical Monologue," in which she sang about all the things she was not going to talk about, she zinged former beau Joe Jonas and acknowledged the reports about her going out with Twilight's Taylor Lautner by winking and throwing a kiss.

Then, she got around to singing:

"You might be expecting me to say something bad about Kanye
"And how he ran up on the stage and ruined my VMA monologue
"But there's nothing more to say 'cause everything's OK
"I've got security lining the stage."

That cued Bill Hader and Jason Sudeikis to run up on stage, looking like Secret Service detail, holding up what looked like a police sketch of West.

"We have a great show," Swift concluded as the bit ended. "Kanye West is not here!"

Of course, maybe Swift decided to take what one might deem the high road. Or possibly the SNL writers figured, as many do, that the Kanye-as-"jackass" jokes (to use the word President Barack Obama did to describe his behavior) have been done to death in the last couple months.
