Donald Glover, the creator and star of FX's freshman dramedy Atlanta, envisioned his show as "Twin Peaks with rappers." Representing his city authentically is essential to Glover — a rapper himself under the name Childish Gambino — and he casts real Atlanta personalities in his show about the rap game and the trap game in the cultural capital of the South. The third episode contains an appearance by Atlanta rap trio Migos playing a fictionalized version of themselves.
Tip "T.I." Harris is an Atlanta rapper who popularized trap, the hip-hop subgenre performed by younger rappers like Migos and Atlanta's central rapper Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry), before branching out into other pursuits like starring in a reality show about his life (T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle) and acting in movies like the semi-autobiographical ATL and the Marvel movie Ant-Man.
Obviously, he's the perfect person to make an appearance on Atlanta.
He's even a fan of the show, he told TVGuide.com during an appearance on TV Guide Live, and plans to continue to watch it as the first season rolls out.
So will we see T.I. on Atlanta?
"If I was invited, I would definitely consider it," T.I. said. "I would give it strong consideration."
That's not a hard yes, but it's pretty close.
