Freeform's Switched at Birth will make its upcoming season its last. Creator and showrunner Lizzy Weiss announced the news via Twitter on Friday.

"This season of #SwitchedatBirth will be our final one. We are ending the show after an amazing 103 episodes with pride, love, and gratitude," she wrote.

The show, which focuses on two teenage girls who were switched at birth, has been critically acclaimed for shining a light on the deaf community and won the network a Peabody Award. Switched's last season ended with a major cliffhanger as pseudo-sisters Bay (Vanessa Marano) and Daphne (Katie LeClerc) were settling into new lives in China and got a mysterious call that they were needed back in Kansas City with their family.

The news of Switched at Birth's final bow comes in the same week that Freeform announced it was also ending its workplace comedy Kevin From Work.

Switched at Birth's final season is set to premiere this summer, but no official date has been set.
