After saying goodbye to two of its own earlier this season, Law & Order: SVUis welcoming back a familiar face.

B.D. Wong, who starred on the NBC drama for nine seasons, will reprise his role as Dr. George Huang in the season's penultimate episode, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

15 bubble shows: Which will survive?

In the episode, titled "Thought Criminal," Huang is brought in as a psychiatric consult to evaluate and testify about a suspect who's on trial for attempted kidnapping and the rape of a child. What he discovers about the suspect shocks the SVU squad, but it might not be enough for a conviction. The episode will air May 14.

Wong first appeared on SVU in Season 2 and was promoted to a series regular two seasons later. He left the show at the end of Season 12, but has made multiple appearances since then. After leaving the drama, Wong starred on NBC's Awake. He will next appear in the Will Smith film Focus.

Law & Order: SVU: Is a baby in Benson's future?

Wong's occasional visits to SVU have helped maintain ties to the show's former cast, which has undergone some transition as of late. Earlier this season, SVU bid adieu to two of its original stars, Dann Florek and Richard Belzer, when their characters retired from the force.

Law & Order: SVU airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC. Are you excited to see Huang again?
