Stranger Things Just Dropped a Surprise Halloween Treat

Where's Barb? News, at Eleven

In case you were one of the millions of people left asking, "What about Barb?" at the end of Netflix's Stranger Things, don't worry: Hawkins didn't forget about her.

The bespectacled teen/early favorite for #1 Halloween costume this year Barb (Shannon Purser) was mostly forgotten during the search for Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), who was taken to an otherworldly dimension called The Upside Down. Glimpsed only briefly at the end of the show, dissected and very, very dead, fans lamented that while we had spent so much time looking for Will, poor Barb had become an afterthought.

Just like Pepperidge Farm, though, turns out Netflix (and by extension the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana) remembers. The network just surprise-dropped an "archival" news report about Barb's disappearance as a Halloween treat.

Framed as a fake newscast (with enough anachronisms to make one doubt just how much input show creators The Duffer Brothers had on this particular promo), we also find out that we need to keep a look out for a waffle-stealing teen girl.

Sure, it may not be new episodes of Stranger Things -- those won't arrive until 2017 -- but just like any good Halloween treat, it gives you a quick rush of excitement, and then it's on to the next treat. Here's hoping we get a few more Stranger Things presents round the ol' holiday time...
