You Need to Hear Martin Freeman's American Accent in This Start Up Trailer

Prepare your ears

You might think you know Martin Freeman. You've seen him in such incredibly British fare as Sherlock, The Hobbit, The Officeand Love Actually. He then put on his best Minnesotan accent to star in the first season of Fargo. But even after all of this, you are not prepared to hear Freeman's American accent in the trailer for his new Crackle series Start Up.

Freeman sounds unrecognizable as Phil Rask, an FBI agent determined to take down the trio behind a new cryptocurrency. The only thing possibly more alarming than Freeman's accent, though, is seeing Seth Cohen Adam Brody play a morally flexible financier who teams up with a Haitian-American gangster (Edi Gathegi) and a Cuban-American hacker (Otmara Marrero) to build a Miami-based criminal tech enterprise.

We're not in the O.C. anymore, bitch!

If this all sounds odd to you... It is. But it's also totally worth checking out the trailer, at the very least so that you can compare Freeman's accent to Benedict Cumberbatch's accent in the Doctor Strange trailer and start writing fan-fic for an American set season of Sherlock ASAP.

Start Up will premiere on Crackle this Fall.
