Start Your Engines for Speed Racer, the Cartoon

This spring, it's time to rev up. Speed Racer is not only getting a feature film this May, but now also its own animated series, Speed Racer: The Next Generation, on Nicktoons. The new series will feature the son of Señor Speed, just as he hits his teenage years. We meet young Speed as he arrives at the racing academy to get in gear. He has friends, enemies (and maybe even frenemies, if it's like real high school), and a headmaster in Mr. Spritle, who will be voiced by the original Speed from the show's U.S. version, Peter Fernandez. Speed's 'toon version will get viewers' engines going with a 90-minute premiere (titled, "The Beginning," May 2, 7 pm/ET), followed by 30-minute eps on Fridays thereafter. Do you have a kid (or kid inside) who's getting revved up for the Next Generation? — Anna DimondUse our Online Video Guide for clips on Speed Racer, the movie.
