Star Wars Rebels Video: Meet Kanan, the Cowboy Jedi

While many are mourning the upcoming loss of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, it's time to look ahead to the future. Namely, Star Wars Rebels, which will debut later this year.

Disney revealed the first human character from the new series this week: a cowboy named Kanan, voiced by Freddie Prinze Jr.

"What I really like about Kanan is that he is a Jedi, but he's not a Jedi in the traditional sense that we've had before on the show," said animation supervisor Keith Kellog.

Forced underground by Order 66 (which decreed the genocide of Jedis inRevenge of the Sith), Kanan is forced to keep his Jedi ways secret. He moves on to become the leader of the cargo ship Ghost. But as the series progresses, the gunslinger will see the importance in picking up his lightsaber again and fighting for what's right.
