Singer Seal Joins The Passion as Pontius Pilate

The live Biblical musical has its governor

Singer/songwriter Seal will play Pontius Pilate in Fox's The Passion, the network announced Thursday. The "Kiss From A Rose" singer will join host and narrator Tyler Perry and previously announced cast members Trisha Yearwood, Chris Daughtry, Jencarlos Canela and Prince Royce in the live musical retelling of Jesus Christ's final hours on Earth.

The Passion is written by High School Musical's Peter Barsocchini and arranged by Adam Anders, who has previously worked on Gleeand Rock of Ages. The musical is set in the present day and will be broadcast live from New Orleans, incorporating local landmarks like the Superdome and the Mississippi River.

The Passion is anything but traditional

This will be Fox's first live musical after the runaway success of Grease: Live last month.

The Passion airs Sunday, March 20 at 8/7c on Fox.
