There May Be Hope for Shadowhunters After All

Ever since Shadowhunters was canceled in early June, fans of the series have been steadfast in their attempts to save their show. Now, it looks like their efforts might not go to waste, if producer Martin Moszkowicz is to be believed.

In an interview with Deadline, Moszkowicz said, "We are in ongoing discussions with the network and Netflix to how we can continue to bring Cassandra Claire's vision to television."

These talks are the result of the extraordinary efforts fans have put into the #SaveShadowhunters campaign, which has included flying a plane with a #SaveShadowhunters banner over Netflix headquarters in L.A., renting out a billboard with the message in Times Square, and launching a month-long subway ad campaign in Seoul, Korea.

According to Moszkowicz, the powers that be have not been blind to these efforts. The higher ups at Constantin Film have been "amazed by the dedication and persistence of the incredible fandom of Shadowhunters and the #SaveShadowhunters campaign."

Unfortunately, this doesn't mean that the show is any less canceled than it was a month ago, especially considering a Netflix rep told Deadline that "no Netflix negotiations are taking place to extend Shadowhunters beyond the 12 new episodes planned to premiere in 2019." If Freeform wants the show to live on, it doesn't sound like it can depend on Netflix to come in with a last minute save.

Shadowhunters will return in 2019 to finish up its third (and final?) season on Freeform.
