Seth MacFarlane Is Going Live-Action for New Fox Series

Seth MacFarlane has long been a household name, thanks to Family Guy, Tedand his WesternA Million Ways to Die in the West. He's still racking up firsts though, as Fox announced Wednesday it's launching a new series that features him in his first live-action television role.

MacFarlane will create, executive produce and star in a 13-episode hour long series from MacFarlane, "a comedy drama" set 300 years in the future. It will center on the crew of a space exploratory ship named Orville that "faces cosmic dramas" as they go "where no comedy drama has gone before."

He says the idea has been on the back burner for a while. "I've wanted to do something like this show ever since I was a kid, and the timing finally feels right," MacFarlane said in a statement. "20th and FOX have been good to me for many years...I think this is gonna be something special."
