Semi-Pro Scores at Box Office, But No Slam Dunk

The race car figure skating basketball comedy Semi-Pro topped the weekend box office with a $15.3 million opening that fell short of funnyman Will Ferrell's most recent pics. (Talladega Nights did $47 mil, while Blades of Glory carved out $33 mil.) Placing second was last week's champ, Vantage Point (with $13 mil).Rounding out the top five were The Spiderwick Chronicles ($8.8 million), The Other Boleyn Girl (opening with $8.3 mil) and Jumper ($7.6 mil). Christina Ricci's long-concealed Penelope premiered at No. 8, with $4 mil.
