If you were holding out hope that Tom (Ryan Eggold) would somehow make a miraculous return to NBC's twisty drama The Blacklist, we've got some bad news for you. According to Variety, Eggold has officially been cast in a new pilot, so it looks like Tom -- who was killed off in The Blacklist's midseason finale late last year -- is gone for good.

The untitled NBC medical drama is based on Dr. Eric Manheimer's memoir Twelve Patients: Life & Death at Bellevue Hospital, and Eggold will play Max Hollander. Max is an internist who has just been recruited to serve as medical director for the hospital, and he's desperate to restore it to its former glory. He's described as "driven to the point of exhausting himself and everyone around him," which is probably why his wife recently left him.

Eggold's previous credits includeSons of Liberty and 90210, as well as The Blacklist: Redemption. He starred alongside Famke Janssen in the short-lived spin-off, which premiere in February of 2017 and was cancelled shortly after its first season finale.
