Roy Moore Sues Sacha Baron Cohen for $95 Million Over Who Is America?

This just in, Who Is America?might actually go down as the most controversial show to ever exist.

Variety reports that former Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore is suing star Sacha Baron Cohen for $95 million after being tricked into appearing on his Showtime series Who Is America? Moore says he was brought to Washington, D.C., to accept an award -- a fake award, of course -- for his support for Israel. Instead, Cohen, in character as Col. Erran Morad, waved a "pedophile detector" in his face as it went off incessantly. Moore is now suing Cohen (as well as CBS and Showtime) for fraud, intentional infliction of emotional distress and defamation.

The lawsuit states, "This false and fraudulent portrayal and mocking of Judge Moore as a sex offender, on national and international television, which was widely broadcast in this district on national television and worldwide, has severely harmed Judge Moore's reputation and caused him, Mrs. Moore, and his entire family severe emotional distress, as well as caused and will cause Plaintiffs financial damage."

Showtime Loves the Who Is America? Controversy, and Wants More of It

At least Moore likely won't have to worry about accidentally appearing on Season 2 of Who is America? since Cohen has made it pretty clear he doesn't intend for the show to continue on. "Tonight, is the last EVER show of Who is America?" Cohen tweeted ahead of the show's finale last month. However, Showtime says a final decision on the show's future has not been made.

Who Is America? can be streamed on Hulu with the Showtime add-on and on Showtime Anytime.
