"As far as I can tell, you've made no effort to put any money into the government's coffers," U.S. District Court Judge William Smith said.

Hatch previously spent three years in prison after failing to pay taxes on the $1 million he won on Survivor. He was released in 2009.

Richard Hatch sent back to jail

Smith told Hatch during Friday's sentencing: "It needs to be a severe punishment. That's the only thing that will deter you in the future."

He ordered him to serve 26 months' supervised release, during which 25 percent of Hatch's gross income would be garnished and paid to the Internal Revenue Service.

Hatch is to report to jail on Monday.
