The Academy, however, might be accused of such an infraction since the awards Buffy's won aren't the kind that make fans happy. (Of course, it should be noted that the recognition is anything but minor to the behind-the-scenes people who win them.) To date, the series has won statuettes for Outstanding Makeup for a Series and Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Dramatic Underscore), both of which it collected in 1998. It's been nominated for hairstyling, sound editing, cinematography and costuming, but except for writing it's been shut out of the process in all the major categories. (And I'll say again that "major" is the word used by others — to me it's insulting to suggest that the achievement of those who won one of the aforementioned awards is something less than that of the more glamorous honorees.)
