Everything We Know About Power Season 6

This is it y'all: the end of the road for Power.

Starz's mega hit, the epic urban saga of James St. Patrick's (Omari Hardwick) attempt to leave the criminal life only to get sucked in deeper and deeper, concludes with its sixth season beginning later this month, leaving in its wake many, many bodies and the honor of being one of the best crime dramas of all time. As fans wait to learn the outcome of several big mysteries, here's everything we know about Season 6 so far.

Season 6, subtitled "The Final Betrayal," returns Sunday Aug. 25 on Starz. Although we don't yet know what time the show will air, we do know the date. So mark your calendars!

It kicks off with a huge world premiere event in New York on Aug. 20. The gritty crime drama willhave a massive world premiere event at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, Aug. 20, where A-listers, all the previous cast members and some lucky fans will see the first episode of the season. Certainly attendees will be asked not to share plot points, but, this being 2019, something is bound to leak out somehow, so die hard fans who don't want the show ruined for them might want to avoid social media for a few days.

There are 15 episodes, and they are airing in two parts. The first 10 episodes will air weekly starting Sunday, Aug. 25, and run into November. The final season will resume with the last five episodes starting in early Jan. 2020. "Like every season, Episode 8 is going to be a huge ending -- big, big shift," co-creator Courtney Kemp told TV Guide. "Episode 10 is cray. Then [Episode 11] to [Episode 15] are a way to explain what has happened. The last 45 seconds of [Episode 15] are some of my favorite television I've ever done."

The theme song has changed. "Big Rich Town," which has become a kind of iconic bop in its own right, gets reworked a bit for the final season, with R&B singer Joe being replaced by Trey Songz. "We wanted to offer a new energy without conceptually changing it," co-creator and star 50 Cent told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour in July. "I even left four bars with the previous song because I was afraid to go [too far] away from it. It's giving it a younger, fresher, vibe."

We find out what happens to Angela right away in the first episode. Shot at the end of Season 5 while trying to protect Ghost, Angela Valdes (Lela Loren) is seen at the conclusion of the season finale (accidentally) taking a bullet Tommy (Joseph Sikora) meant for his onetime partner in crime. Her fate is unclear in the episode's final minutes but it's not dragged out at all. What happened to Angela becomes apparent at the top of the episode, and it sets Season 6 in motion.

Tasha is a "reinvented character" in Season 6. "She's a new woman, new person," Naturi Naughton told TV Guide. "I had to rediscover her. Sometimes I forgot the journey because so often I excused Ghost's behavior. This season is the first time there are no excuses. She decides, 'You know what? You're not good for me. I'm independent of you. I can make money. I can start my own business. I can protect my child.' Everything about her is not dependent on Ghost, which is a new identity."

The first spin-off will pick up where the Season 6 finale left off. The Mary J. Blige-starring spin-off, first in a series of Power spin-offs to come, is set 72 hours after the events of the Season 6 conclusion.
