In the latest round of pilot pickups, ABC has green-lit October Road, about a screenwriter who returns to his hometown to teach at a local university, and Enemies, in which two childhood best friends now find themselves on very opposite sides of the law. Meanwhile, Fox OK'd The 12th Man, inspired by Paul Shirley's blog about being a so-so NBA player, and Primary, about a pair of hostage negotiators in love. (Boy, those two must have some prolonged fights: "Please," she says via megaphone, "slowly put the cap on the toothpaste, then come out of the bathroom.")
