Zoolander 2won't hit theaters until next year, but it's already got some people calling for a boycott.

An online petition created by Sarah Rose is asking moviegoers to skip the follow-up to Ben Stiller's fashion farce because Benedict Cumberbatch's character is offensive, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Rose's petition says that, in a trailer released earlier this week, "an androgynous character played by Benedict Cumberbatch is asked by Zoolander and Hansel if he is a 'male or female model', and if they 'have a hot dog or a bun.'"

Kristen Wiig is practically unrecognizable in Zoolander 2

Rose writes, "Cumberbatch's character is clearly portrayed as an over-the-top, cartoonish mockery of androgyne/trans/non-binary individuals. This is the modern equivalent of using blackface to represent a minority." The film promotes harmful and dangerous perceptions of the queer community, Rose writes.

So far, the petition has more than 6,000 of its intended 7,000 supporters. The film premieres Feb. 12.
