Paula Deen Sheds 30 Pounds

Paula Deen is showing off a leaner figure on the cover of People. Six months after the Food Network star revealed she had been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, Deen has shed 30 pounds. "I do think differently now [about food]," Deen says. "I'm more aware." Six months after the Food Network star revealed she had been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, Deen has shed 30 pounds. "I do think differently now [about food]," Deen says. "I'm more aware."

Soon after Deen announced her diagnosis, she said she was committed making a lifestyle change. She tells the magazine she now loves baked fish and Greek salad.

"It took me a couple of years to get to this point," she adds. "If you make a few small changes, they can add up to big results."

Prior to Deen's diagnosis, she was vilified by Anthony Bourdain for her unhealthy style of cooking. "She's proud of the fact that her food is f---ing bad for you," he said. "If I were on at seven at night and loved by millions of people at every age, I would think twice before telling an already obese nation that it's OK to eat food that is killing us."
