The network wants to be sensitive to Florida shooting victims

Sorry b***hes, Heathers is getting delayed.

Paramount has decided to push the premiere of the scathing comedy based on the cult 1980s film. The network announced Wednesday that it is delaying the premiere of the show -- originally scheduled for Mar. 7 -- out of respect for the victims and families of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting that occurred in Florida on Feb. 14, which killed 17 people.

"Paramount Network's original series Heathers is a satirical comedy that takes creative risks in dealing with many of society's most challenging subjects ranging from personal identity to race and socio-economic status to gun violence," the network said in a statement. "While we stand firmly behind the show, in light of the recent tragic events in Florida and out of respect for the victims, their families and loved ones, we feel the right thing to do is delay the premiere until later this year."

The decision comes after Paramount already released the first episode on iTunes on Feb. 21, seven days after the Florida shooting. The first episode does not reference a school shooting but it does end with a main character planning to use a suicide as a way to get more internet fame and attention. Reviews have also started to come in for the series and the reaction has been mixed, to say the least.

Paramount has not announced a new premiere date for the series.
