To quote a certain someone's T-shirt, "Life is beautiful." After weeks that only seemed like an eternity, the vote was rocked no more and American Idol viewers sent Sanjaya Malakar packing on Wednesday night - at 9:56 pm/ET, to be exact, for those looking for lucky Pick 3 numbers.

Having served up a take on Bonnie Raitt's "Something to Talk About" that was likened to bad karaoke (by Randy) and famously flailed as "utterly horrendous" (by... well, not Paula), Sanjaya's ultimately unavoidable ejection came as little surprise, though the presence of at least one of those who joined him in the bottom three did: Blake. Is it time for the beat boxer to bring back the beats?

Also on Wednesday's Idol: Simon Cowell cleared the air about his misinterpreted Tuesday-night eye roll, saying, "I may not be the nicest person in the world, but I would never, ever, ever disrespect the [Virginia Tech] victims and their families." - Reporting by Matt Webb Mitovich
