Orphan Black: Cosima's Mortality, Felix's Independence and More Season 2 Scoop

Let the Clone Club rejoice!
Orphan Black returns for Season 2 on BBC America in April to continue the story of Sarah (Tatiana Maslany) and her various clone siblings (also Maslany). "We are going to take some risks in our premise in the second season, and push [it], technically," co-creator Graeme Manson said Saturday at the Television Critics Association winter TV previews.

When we last left Sarah, she was horrified to find her daughter Kira (Skyler Wexler) missing, apparently kidnapped. The series returns with her search to reclaim her child. Check out seven things to expect from Orphan Black Season 2:
1. New villains BBC America previewed the first scene from Season 2, in which Sarah encounters two nasty characters who corner her at a diner. They're somehow affiliated with one of her many enemies and don't take no or the threat of gun violence for an answer.
2. Kira is leverage It turns out that pro-clone Rachel (Maslany) has Kira and demands that Sarah turn herself in as the price to reunite with her daughter. They're both invaluable after all because Sarah is the only clone who was able to have children.
3. Cosima faces her mortality The nerd clone (Maslany) is still sick with the mysterious illness from last season. Manson found it difficult to put her in "this heartbreaking position" because Cosima is his favorite clone. "She is almost as brave as Sarah in a lot of ways," he says. "Examining her own science is part of our mystery." In the clip, we also see Cosima taking advantage of her access to Dr. Leekie (Matt Frewer).

4. Sibling strife Sarah turned to her foster brother Felix (Jordan Gavaris) last season when she stumbled into the whole clone world, but he'll get more of his own story this season. "Season 1 Felix was very much an integral cog in the mystery," Gavaris said. "And now I think Season 2 establishes him outside the world of the clones...he's on his own as an individual with his own identity. The relationship with Sarah comes to a head, and there are some tough decisions that are going to have to be made."

5. Someone scarier than Rachel? Michelle Forbes (True Blood) has joined the cast to play Marian Bowles, a Dyad Institute power player who has a bird's eye view of the battle between Sarah and Rachel.
6. Paul's divided loyalties Poor Paul (Dylan Bruce) is unfortunately in debt to Dyad, and Rachel wants all of his insight into what makes Sarah tick. After all, he was able to tell the difference between her and clone Beth, his former girlfriend.

7. Alison the time bomb The housewife clone (Maslany) allowed her neighbor Aynsley (Natalie Lisinska) to die last season after her scarf got caught in the garbage disposal. Naturally, that event will haunt the most neurotic clone this season. "She's an intense person to begin with," Manson said. "The secret she's keeping will eat at her in interesting ways. She's got some explosions coming up." At another point in the preview, we also see Alison getting grabbed from behind. We almost feel bad for the assailant!
