The Originals Video: Is There Hope for Hayley and Elijah?

Hope took on a new meaning by the end of The Originals Season 1 finale. After being kidnapped by the witches, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) gave birth and was immediately killed. Fortunately, she had her child's blood in her body and was reborn, but this time as a hybrid. By the end of the hour, Hayley, along with Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies), made the heartbreaking decision to give the baby, aptly named Hope, to the one person they could trust with keeping her safe — Rebekah (Claire Holt). With her new supernatural form, and after losing the only family she's ever known, Hayley will be at rock bottom when the series returns.

"She's not the person she was when we found her 12 months ago in Mystic Falls. She's so far from that and it's exciting. But we left them all hopeless!"

Like Hayley, Klaus will also be dealing with new emotions surrounding the loss of a child he never dreamed of having. "We started shooting Season 2 already so at the moment, I'm working with the repercussions of losing the baby after connecting with her and how that affected him, which is huge for him to deal with," Morgan said.

And then there's Elijah, who has been a support for Hayley throughout the freshman season. But with their budding romance put on hold in the finale, is there room for them to get back together next year? Tonkin shares why that it's not likely below:
