The California state medical board decided that Kamrava "did not exercise sound judgment" and "committed gross negligence, repeated negligent acts, and incompetence" in Suleman's case as well as at least two others: A 48-year-old woman had complications after becoming pregnant with quadruplets, and a 42-year-old woman contracted ovarian cancer after her fertility treatments.

The board's decision, effective July 1, was harsher than the judge's recommendation that the doctor get probation for five years.

Kamrava's lawyer argued that the negative press surrounding Suleman affected the case and that he had learned his lesson.
