Nick Gordon could be facing more serious charges in connection to Bobbi Kristina Brown's death in addition to the civil wrongful death suit currently being held against him.

People reports that a grand jury has convened in Georgia to determine whether or not Gordon could face murder charges in relation to her death. He is accused of giving the 22-year-old a deadly cocktail that left her unconscious before he allegedly left her facedown in a tub.

"The case remains open and under investigation," the district attorney told People.

Bobbi Kristina Brown died on July 26 in hospice care, six months after being found unconscious and unresponsive. A complaint was filed first accusing Gordon of domestic violence and theft in June, and was amended to accuse him of Brown's wrongful death after she died.

Gordon's legal team called the suit "slanderous and meritless" at the time.
