Netflix Announces Sketch Comedy Series The Characters
Each episode will showcase a different up-and-coming comedian
The Characters is a sort of sketch comedy Masters of Horror, where each episode a different comedian will have a half hour to indulge in whatever weird ideas they come up with.
The Characters features Lauren Lapkus (Orange Is The New Black, Jurassic World), Kate Berlant (The Meltdown), Dr. Brown (Dr. Brown), Paul W. Downs (Broad City), John Early (Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp), Tim Robinson (SNL), Natasha Rothwell (Writer, SNL) and Henry Zebrowski (The Wolf of Wall Street).
Netflix is touting this as hot new comedy talents given complete creative control. It's the streaming service's second foray into original sketch comedy, after last year's With Bob & David.
The Characters premieres March 11. In the meantime, check out the trailer.
