Cher to Present Nancy Pelosi with Award at VH1 Trailblazer Honors
The Speaker of the House is just one of the night's honorees
"When women succeed, America succeeds."
That's just part of the message second-time House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi will deliver during her acceptance speech at this week's VH1 Trailblazer Honors, and it should sound pretty familiar to anyone who's watched the Congresswoman reclaim her gavel this year. Pelosi's award will be presented by none other than singer-actor-icon Cher, who has been a vocal champion of Pelosi's work on Capitol Hill and wrote that she is her "hero."
Pelosi is but one of several women being honored at the event, which airs on International Women's Day. Acclaimed director Ava Duvernay, #MeToo founder Tarana Burke, and Margaret Atwood, author of The Handmaid's Tale, will also be celebrated at the show, which will feature performances by Rita Ora and Elle King and presentations by Mindy Kaling, Samira Wiley, Alyssa Milano and Anita Hill.
