Mr. Robot: Is Mr. Robot Gaslighting Elliot?

Without the stability of prison routine, any semblance of control Elliot (Rami Malek) had seems to be falling apart on this week's Mr. Robot.

Right as Elliot's savoring the normalcy of using the restroom in private, he's startled to hear Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) giving Darlene (Carly Chaikin) and Cisco orders in the next room. "One second everything was normal, then all of a sudden you stopped responding," Mr. Robot says to Elliot, explaining that he had to step in to make things appear normal.

But is that really the case? Are the glitches between Elliot and Mr. Robot really outside either of their control? Or is Mr. Robot simply gaslighting Elliot so that he can secretly continue his work with the Dark Army to enact Stage 2? We break down this theory and more in the video above.
