Midnight, Texas Snags Season 2 Renewal, But Two Characters Will Not Return

AfterMidnight, Texas debuted to modest but not groundbreaking ratings in its first season, most people guessed it would be a one-and-done summer series destined for cancellation. Guess again!

NBC announced today that Midnight, Texas has been renewed for Season 2, taking us back to a small town in the Lone Star State that plays home to a plethora of supernatural beings. Based on a book series by True Blood author Charlaine Harris, the series tells the mysterious tale of Manfred (François Arnaud), a medium who makes his new home in a town where only outsiders fit in.

Unfortunately, in an effort to trim down the budget this year, two actors will not be returning for the show's second season. Sarah Ramos and Yul Vazquez, who play Creek and Rev, will no longer be series regulars, but Deadline reports that the hope is to keep them around as guest stars rather than omitting their characters from the show entirely.

Additionally, showrunner Monica Owusu-Breen will leave the series to focus on other projects, and Season 1 consulting producers Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder will step up to take over the series.

"I am stoked at the prospect of a second season of Midnight, Texas," Harris said in a statement. "I can't wait to revisit my favorite town to discover what its inhabitants have been up to the past few months. Now the viewers, who've been asking me questions daily, will have their reward."
