Melissa McCarthy and Jimmy Fallon Strip Lip Sync Battling Down to Basics

Lip Sync Battle on Spike goes all out with its production values: elaborate sets, a fleet of backup dancers, Beyoncé.

But Jimmy Fallon and Melissa McCarthy, who borrowed the Lip Sync Battle title and format on Monday's Tonight Show, are highly experienced comedy titans, and they don't need any of the bells and whistles. Jimmy Fallon can be funny pretending to roller-skate. Melissa McCarthy knowing all the words to DMX's "X Gon' Give It To Ya" is funny in and of itself. So is Jimmy knowing all the words to Zayn Malik's "Pillowtalk." They're such pros that when Melissa puts on safety glasses and says she's doing a song from Pocahontas and you know what's coming, they manage to make that part of the joke too.
