Bill Masters and Virginia Johnson have officially gotten a happy ending.

Showtime has decided not to order a fifth season of Masters of Sex, the drama starring Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan.

The cancellation news comes on the heels of the Season 4 finale, which aired on Nov. 10 and saw Bill (Sheen) and Virginia (Caplan) get married after an on-again, off-again relationship that spanned the show's entire run. According to Deadline, which first reported the news, the network felt as though the wedding worked well as a series finale and decided to pull the plug.

Created by Michelle Ashford, Masters of Sex was based on the true story of Bill Masters and Virginia Johnson, who pioneered the study of human sexuality throughout the '50s and '60s. Although the drama was nominated for several Emmys, it only scored one: a guest actress award for Allison Janney in 2014.
