This could get messy...

Marcia Cross is returning to ABC Sundays with a major recurring role on the network's new hit Quantico, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

The Desperate Housewives star will be playing Caleb Haas' (Graham Rogers) mother, who has deftly moved from being a decorated FBI agent to being a high-ranking senator and is now a candidate for vice president. Though she seems to be a skilled and passionate politician to the public, her family knows that her own goals come before everything else.

Deadline first reported the news.

Quantico's Johanna Braddy on Shelby's big secret: "It's pretty hard to justify"

Cross won't make her debut on the show until early 2016, but when she does, she'll be walking into quite a messy scene. Last week's episode revealed that her character's husband, played by Mark Pellegrino, is having an affair with FBI rookie agent Shelby (who, by the way, had a fling with their son back at Quantico).

See? Told you it was messy.

Quantico marks Cross' first major role since playing Bree Van De Kamp on Desperate Housewives, which concluded in 2012.

Quantico airs Sundays at 10/9c on ABC.
