NBA legend Magic Johnson and his wife Cookie say that they support their openly gay son, Earvin Johnson III (E.J.).
After TMZ posted a video of E.J. and his boyfriend holding hands, his parents told the website, "Cookie and I love E.J. and support him in every way. We're very proud of him."
Magic, who revealed he was HIV-positive in 1991, is a longtime supporter of the LGBT community. In 2008, he rallied for California residents to defeat the same-sex marriage ban, Proposition 8. "Prop 8 singles out one group of Californians to be treated differently -- including members of our family, our friends, and our coworkers," he said in a recorded telephone message sent to California voters. "That is not what California is about. So this Tuesday, vote no on Proposition 8. It is unfair and wrong."
E.J., 20, is currently a student at NYU.
