MADONNA'S MUSIC NO. 1

Madonna's Music made people come together en masse at record stores around the country. The Material Girl's latest album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's album chart, selling 419,600 copies last week. It was Madonna's first No. 1 album since SoundScan began tabulating sales in 1991. The last time one of her albums sat atop the chart was 1989's Like a Prayer. Her last effort, the multiple Grammy-winning Ray of Light, opened at No. 2, moving 370,000 copies. Music's sales no doubt were boosted by the album's single of the same name, which has been No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 Songs chart for the past three weeks. Madonna should hurry up and enjoy her moment of glory, however. Next week, Revelation, the new album from boy wonders 98 Degrees, is expected to claim the top spot.
