Lew Wood, a longtime broadcast journalist and Todayanchor, has died, according to The Associated Press. He was 84.

Wood died Wednesday at a hospice care in Riverside County, according to his daughter, Brigitte.
Wood began his career in radio in 1952 before transitioning to TV as a reporter and cameraman the following year. He then worked as a correspondent for CBS news, where he covered the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy from Dallas and later reported on the Civil Rights moment. He became Today's news anchor in 1975.
