Netflix is in the early stages of developing a live-action series based on the immensely popular Legend of Zelda videogames, The Wall Street Journalreports.
A source familiar with the project says the streaming service describes the potential Zelda series, which follows a boy named Link on a mission to rescue the princess Zelda, as a family-friendly answer to Game of Thrones.

This is not the first time a Zelda series has been attempted. In 1989, there was just one season of an animated adaptation. However, Netflix is allegedly working closely with Nintendo, who has released nearly two dozen Zelda games since the first debuted in the U.S. in 1987.
