Sweet News! Laverne Cox Lands Perfect Role for Rocky Horror Remake

No more antici...pation here. Now we know who's playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter in Fox's upcoming remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Orange is the New Black's Laverne Cox has landed the "sweet transvestite" role, the network announced Wednesday.

Fox's two-hour Rocky Horror remake will take a fresh look at the cult-classic musical, which was released for the first time 40 years ago. Though not too much is changing, as far as Frank-N-Further is concerned. The network describes the character as a "sexually ambiguous flirtatious alien mad-scientist" who holds an annual science convention to show off "Rocky Horror's" birth.

Dr. Frank-N-Furter was played by Tim Curry in the original film.

High School Musical's Kenny Ortega will direct and choreograph the movie, and will executive-produce along with original producer Lou Adler and Buffy the Vampire Slayer producer Gail Berman.
