"We are incredibly proud to have John as part of the HBO family," Michael Lombardo, president of HBO Programming, said in a statement. "His unique ability to deliver socially significant commentary week after week, along with his innate comedic brilliance, puts John in a class by himself."

Last Week Tonight, which just kicked off its second season earlier this month, features a mixture of topical commentary relating to the events of the previous week, pre-taped pieces, and occasional guests. It also features the greatest invention known to man, the Salmon Cannon.
