The Killing's Mireille Enos on Finale: "I Thought It Was Awesome"

Fans of The Killing's season finale are few and far in between, but star Mireille Enos is one of them.
"I thought it was awesome," Enos told TVLine. "I know there's lots of controversy about it, but I think a cliff-hanger is really smart storytelling. It means audiences will come back [for Season 2]."

Viewers and critics alike were outraged when, among other shocking turn of events, Rosie Larsen's suspected killer proved to be yet another red herring on Sunday's closer. But Enos believes there was "too much story" to tie up in one episode."To solve [the murder] in one episode, it would have felt rushed," she said. "If there's anything that's been true about this season, [it's that] we've taken our time. That continued to be true through the finale. I think the payoff next season is going to be really worth it."Co-star Michelle Forbes, however, understands the fury from their "very savvy audiences" and does not hold it against those who have threatened to stop watching the show."They know their TV well," she said. "If you're going to make a risky move, you have to on some level accept criticisms that are out there. ... Television is a democracy. You can watch if you want. If it's appealing to you, you can watch it. And if it's not, you don't have to."

AMC renews The Killing for Season 2

If viewers do watch next season, they will finally find out who killed Rosie Larsen, showrunner Veena Sud promised."We asked the question, 'Who killed Rosie Larsen? But we never said, 'Tune in and by the end of 13 episodes you'll find out who did it,'" Sud said. "I want to assure [the fans] that they will find out who killed Rosie Larsen in Season 2."
