Kathie Lee Gifford Pays Tribute to Late Husband on Today: He Was at Complete Peace

Kathie Lee Gifford paid emotional tribute to her late husband Frank Gifford on Monday's Today, where she returned to work a little more than a week after his death.

"The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away," Gifford said before laughing at how much Frank would've loved all the tributes to him. "This was a man at complete peace in his life. He might've been the happiest, most contented person in the world at this point in his life."

She went on to open up about his poverty-stricken beginnings and how they impacted the rest of his life. "He was so grateful," she said. "He knew what hard work was. He never had an entitled moment in his life. And we will miss him so much."

Gifford, a former New York Giants football star and popular Monday Night Football sportscaster, died Aug. 9 at his home in Connecticut of natural causes. He was 84.
